Ottawa: Poutine Festival Returns to Sparks Street – LeCanadian

We Ottawans do seem to love our poutine.

For the second time in a little over 5 months, the Sparks Street Mall hosts a festival celebrating the uniquely-Canadian dish of French fries, cheese curds and gravy.

Poutine Fest runs April 24th to the 27th. CTV News Ottawa reports that it features 25 different poutine vendors spread out along Sparks Street along with 6 participating restaurants.

It’s a chance to try out some, shall we say, unique poutine combinations. You’ll find lobster poutine, shawarma poutine, fajita poutine, filet mignon poutine, duck poutine, lamb poutine, even Pad Thai poutine, and a lot more. I tried the Pad Thai poutine last fall, and do recommend to anyone who loves Thai food and poutine to try it this time around if you had missed it.

Admission is free. Patrons are welcome to buy their poutine individually, or purchase a “Poutine Passport” good for 5 different 8-ounce samplers from participating vendors.

There is also live entertainment including musicians and street performers.

The Sparks Street Authority organized a similar event last November. This time organizers have added extra vendors and an extra day to meet the high demand for poutine.
