After His Roommate Traded by Oilers to Devils, Luke Gazdic Makes the Jump in Free Agency
Who knew that the Taylor Hall for Adam Larsson trade was actually two-for one?
Luke Gazdic, a housemate and teammate of Hall’s here, is following Hall to New Jersey with the Devils signing the former Edmonton Oilers’ body guard- left winger to a one-year, two-way deal. Gazdic isn’t sure if he’ll be sharing digs again with Hall but Devils’ GM Ray Shero called Gazdic the first day of free-agency July 1 to talk contract and they agreed on $700,000 if he plays in the bigs and an undetermined lower salary if he’s in Albany, N.Y.
If nothing else, Hall and Gazdic will be in the same dressing room at Devils’ camp this fall.
“Ray said he’d talked to Taylor after he’d traded for him and told Taylor he was interested in me. I guess he’s liked me from afar,” said Gazdic, who didn’t receive a qualifying offer from the Oilers prior to July 1 so became an unrestricted free-agent for the first time.
The popular Gazdic, who played 136 Oilers’ games, scoring in his very first
