Jays’ post-game Chaos all a Big Misunderstanding

Tampa Bay Rays right-fielder Steven Souza Jr. crushed a Roberto Osuna fastball in the ninth inning and Monday night and then it looked like he was going to crush one of the Blue Jays.
The Jays defeated the Rays 3-2 in a nail-biter at the Rogers Centre that ended up with both benches clearing, Souza yelling at Toronto catcher Russell Martin and Jays short stop Troy Tulowitzki charging over to first base like the cavalry. Turned out to be all an innocent mistake. But the drama and the anxiety was certainly there.
With two out and Corey Dickerson standing at first base, Jays’ closer Osuna seemed to strike out Souza for third out of the game, but the ball was tipped and hit the top of Martin’s glove. He was unable to hold on.
Many of the 35,333 in the Rogers Centre thought the game was over. The stadium horn even sounded in celebration. But it was a foul tip, and Osuna had to refocus. Two pitches later, he delivered another fastball and Souza then crushed it to centre.
