Argos’ Bourke Blocking Out Reunion
With the big night finally almost here, Josh Bourke admits he’ll have some butterflies.
The first-year Argonauts left tackle will go up against his old team — the Alouettes — on Monday evening for the first time since signing with Toronto in the off-season, ending a nine-year run in Montreal.
Now, Bourke will be battling veterans such as John Bowman and Alan-Michael Cash in a game situation instead of on the practice field — and the 6-foot-7, 315-pound Windsor native acknowledges it will be an adjustment.
“I’ll be nervous, but once you get out there, it’s like any other game,” Bourke, 33, said on Friday as the Argos continued preparations for Monday’s home game. “People whosay it’s not weird facing your old team, even if they played there just a year, they’re lying to you. It’s going to be different, but I’m excited and it’s just another week for us to try to get a home win.”
