New, Old Faces Dot Landscape as Maple Leafs Host Ducks

Randy’s return, Freddy’s foray and the potential end of a long, public waiting game highlight what should be an emotional Monday nighter at the Air Canada Centre.
After being kicked to the curb nearly two years ago, Randy Carlyle, the one-time Leafs defenceman and coach responsible for guiding Toronto to its lone playoff appearance in a dozen years, makes his first return to the ACC in this, his second go-round as head coach of the Anaheim Ducks.
“I miss all these people here. Usually I don’t see this many people in a morning scrum,” Carlyle said following his team’s morning skate in preparation for the evening tilt with the Maple Leafs.
“Obviously, Toronto is a passionate market and living here and being part of that market is quite different than what I’ve been accustomed to in the Anaheim market. That’s what you deal with here.”
