Teamless Scottish Fans a Sight to See at Euro 2016

PARIS — It takes something extraordinary to turn heads in this city. In the 10th arrondissement, in particular, which is repugnant in many areas.
Vagrants urinate next to mattresses situated along busy streets and “rough sleepers,” as they’re called here, are commonplace. There’s simply nothing extraordinary about walking past miniature tent towns of Roma Gypsies. Nobody gives them a second look.
But drop two kilt-wearing men onto the streets and everyone stops to take a look. Heads turned along Boulevard Saint-Martin Sunday afternoon as a pair of Scotsman, Gary and Kevin, turned up donning aviators and Scotland jerseys. A little girl asked her mom about what she was seeing.
The fact Kevin and Gary support the only British side not involved at Euro 2016 didn’t matter. The 30-somethings have been parading around Paris, basking in the ridicule that’s been hurled their way from Irish, English Welsh fans who’ve had a laugh at their expense.
