Pick-by-pick Breakdown of the NBA Draft
Postmedia’s Ryan Wolstat serves up his take on each player selected in the first round of the 2016 NBA draft …
1. Philadelphia: Ben Simmons — Immensely talented Aussie, highly skilled, but must get a jumper.
2. L.A. Lakers: Brandon Ingram — Might end up best player in class. Projects as big-time scorer.
3. Boston: Jaylen Brown — First shocker. Great athlete, but advanced stats weren’t good and will take time.
4. Phoenix: Dragan Bender — Upside is huge and has right attitude, but must adjust to NBA level and that won’t happen overnight.
5. Minnesota: Kris Dunn — Do-everything point guard makes Ricky Rubio expendable. With a jumper, will be all-star.
6. New Orleans: Buddy Hield — Desperately need a lights-out shooter. And scorer and the Bahamian Bomber fits the bill.
7. Denver: Jamal Murray — Canadian pairs nicely with Emmanuel Mudiay, brings shooting and savviness to the table.
