Jays Dominate Astros in 9-2 Win
The Blue Jays had the power game going on a fine Sunday afternoon, smashing three home runs and riding an eight strikeout performance from Marcus Stroman to a comfortable 9-2 victory over Houston.
The win moved the first-place club a season-best 16 games over .500, with series wins in five of the past six sets and a Major League-best .632 mark (48-28) since May 19.
Every facet of the team’s skill-set was on display in front of 47,261 fans, the 28th sellout of the season (after only six at this time last year).
There was slugging: Edward Encarnacion’s American League-best-tying 33rd of the campaign, Troy Tulowitzki’s 20th (giving the team four players with at least 20), which was followed by Russell Martin’s 10th.
