Canada’s Damian Warner Hangs on to Claim Bronze Medal in Decathlon

Canada added another Olympic medal on Thursday as Damian Warner held on for bronze in the decathlon at the Rio Summer Olympics.
Warner, entering the 1,500-metre race third overall and 44 points ahead of Kai Kazmirek of Germany, placed fourth in the race to ensure a podium finish.
The 26-year-old native of London, Ont., accumulated 8,666 points in the 10 track and field events over two days, a season best score.
American favourite Ashton Eaton defended his gold medal from the 2012 London Games with an Olympic record 8,893 points, while Kevin Mayer of France earned the silver medal with 8,834 points.
