Experience the aquatic universe at this immersive underwater exhibit in Montreal

We’ve spent a lot of time inside over the past 15 months, and now you can spend it underwater.

Sort of.

A new exhibition at the Society for Arts & Technology (SAT) offers guests a calming and trippy dive into the immersion of the seabed, offering a soundscape we don’t often get to hear.

The show, ECOSYSTEM, is on display now at the Satosphere and will remain at the SAT until August.

The Satosphere is a 360-degree dome with a spherical panoramic projection screen 13 metres high. It’s like a movie theatre on steroids.

“The underwater universe is definitely not the world of silence … and what we hear there has a lot to tell,” says the exhibit’s description. “Waves, boat engines, marine animal communications, the crackling of ice floes or the sound of flowing water – testimony to a regular melting – this immersive film explores a little-known component of this ecosystem: its soundscape.”

The ECOSYSTEM exhibit is on display from Tuesdays to Saturdays from 5 pm to 6:30 pm and from 6:30 pm to 8 pm.

Tickets cost $20 and the immersive film plays for 37 minutes in total.
