Fan charged after 9th inning Rogers Centre Run
TORONTO – It was the bottom of the ninth and Blue Jays fans in the jam-packed Rogers Centre were hoping for a miracle as Jose Bautista stepped up to the plate Wednesday night.
But the crack of a bat was replaced by the crack of a butt as a man sprinted across the field, began stripping off his clothes, and briefly delayed the bluebirds’ season-ending loss to Cleveland.
TBS chose not to give air time to the streaker, so the millions of fans watching on TV across the country missed out on the bizarre incident.
But tens of thousands in the Rogers Centre for Game 5 of the ALCS had a front-row seat to the shenanigans and many later posted video on social media.
In the footage, the shoeless man is seen running through the outfield while pulling his T-shirt off and tossing it aside. Four security staffers chased after the speedster and tackled him near second base.
As the man was subdued face down in the dirt, his cargo pants slipped down over his buttocks, exposing a full moon to the fans in attendance.
Two Toronto Police officers then escorted the overzealous fan off the field.
