Lucian Bute’s B Sample Also Positive for Ostarine: Report
The B sample of Romanian-Canadian boxer Lucian Bute, taken after his April 30 fight against Badou Jack, has come back positive, according to a report by 98.5 FM in Montreal that cites the District of Columbia Boxing and Wrestling Commission.
GYM president Yvon Michel would not confirm the report, saying he had never received the letter from the WBC. He said Bute would meet the media on Friday morning.
On May 27, the commission announced that Bute failed a test for the banned substance Ostarine, which while not being an anabolic steroid, can have the same effects in that it can increase muscle mass, improve stamina and boost recovery ability. It has been banned since 2008.
Bute denied taking any performance-enhancing substances. “All my career, I never took anything,” he said in May. “In the 13 years since I’ve been in Quebec, champion for five of those years, I was tested many times. I never had a positive test. It’s not me.”
