Leafs ‘Embarrassed Ourselves’ in Loss to Kings: Babs

You figured it had to come eventually and odds were the harshest lesson early in the NHL season would be administered by a big, veteran team from the Western Conference.
Eventually, the Leafs would meet an opponent able to throttle down the impressive speed of the rookie-heavy lineup and tone down the early optimism surrounding the team.
And so it was in a men vs. boys contest Tuesday at the Air Canada Centre, one in which the Los Angeles Kings toyed with the Leafs in a 7-0 win.
To put it mildly, the Leafs were schooled in front of an indifferent crowd of 18,976 in what one would hope would be their worst defeat of the season.
The loss was every bit as ugly as the final score suggested, a dominating display by one team vs. a non- competitive effort by the losing one.
