Kicker Blair Walsh Lets Down Vikings in Third Straight Loss
Blair Walsh used to be such a reliable placekicker for the Minnesota Vikings.
After two years in the NFL, 2012-13, he’d made 90% of his field goals — historically good accuracy.
Since then, however, Walsh’s accuracy has dropped. So has his post-game poise. Worst of all, Walsh no longer is Mr. Clutch — as the Vikings are lamenting after a disappointing 22-16 overtime loss to Detroit.
You’ll recall Walsh missed a chip-shot field goal last January, which would have knocked off Seattle in that frigid NFC wild-card playoff game.
On Sunday, Walsh was the goat again. On a team that struggles mightily on offence each week, despite QB Sam Bradford’s occasional heroism, you have to begin wondering for how much longer the Vikings can stand by Mr. No Longer Mr. Clutch.
